EDUCATION
Prof. Yusuf Rajabally qualified at the University of Montpellier, France. He trained in Neurology and Neurophysiology at the University of Bordeaux, France. His MD was based on a large study of families from south-western France affected by the genetic neuropathy, Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease.
EXPERIENCE
Prof. Yusuf Rajabally is a Consultant Neurologist and Honorary Professor of Neurology at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, University Hospitals Birmingham, UK. He runs specialist regional neuropathy services offering multiple weekly clinics and an inflammatory neuropathy service.
AREAS OF INTEREST
Prof. Yusuf Rajabally’s main research interests are the clinical, epidemiological, electrophysiological and therapeutic aspects of acute and chronic inflammatory neuropathies.
RESEARCH OVERVIEW
Prof. Yusuf Rajabally has published numerous papers on the clinical variants and electrophysiology of chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (CIDP) and Guillain-Barre syndrome (GBS), including validation of existing criteria for CIDP in a multicentre setting and development of new criteria for GBS. Further work includes epidemiological variations of CIDP with different diagnostic criteria and dosing of intravenous immunoglobulins as well as determinants of dose and frequency of administration in CIDP.
