EDUCATION

Dr Leif Hanitsch studied Medicine in Berlin (Germany) and Immunology in Oxford (UK). For his medical dissertation he stayed at the Rockefeller University (USA) in Michel Nussenzweig’s lab of Molecular Immunology.  

EXPERIENCE
Leif Hanitsch holds board certification for Internal Medicine, Pulmology and Immunology. He is a leading senior consultant at the Institute for Medical Immunology, Charité, Berlin (ERN RITA) and takes care of adult patients with primary and secondary immunodeficiency as well as autoinflammatory disorders.

AREAS OF INTEREST

Dr Leif Hanitsch coordinated and contributed to several national and international clinical guidelines. His scientific focus is infection immunity and immune dysregulation in adult PID patients. Leif Hanitsch is member of the scientific steering committee of the German patient’s organisation for PID and FOCIS directory board member.

RESEARCH OVERVIEW

Dr Hanitsch has authored over 100 publications . Most of research and publications focus on primary and secondary immune diseases.
